DRAFT Bylaws for the new Non-profit Corporation – Open for comments until 7/28

The process of creating a new Non-profit Corporation involves accepting a new set of bylaws.

The current bylaws do not contain all the specific language required by the IRS & the State of California to grant non-profit status so we had to modify them.

Part of the process of becoming a non-profit corporation involves transferring the assets & members from the informal club to the non-profit corporation and dissolving the informal club along with it’s bylaws. Therefore, we are not changing the existing bylaws, we are forming a new entity with new bylaws voted on by the BOD. This is the same as when the club was initially formed in 2015.

In the spirit of transparency, we are publishing the DRAFT bylaws that the BOD intends to accept as part of the formation of the non-profit corporation. We encourage any input or comments from current paid members. This comment period will close at midnight on Friday 7/28. You can provide public comments by clicking the Leave a response >> link just below this post. You can also email your comments to Jim Zeeb  Please provide all comments in writing.  Thanks.

I would like to propose the following revision to Article II – USA Pickleball Association (USAPA),
Section 2.05 Ambassador Eligible to Hold Office. The local USAPA Ambassador is eligible to serve in any SLOPB Club Board of Director position provided that they are an Active member in good standing and have been elected to any such position. (Refer to Article VI – Elections.)

It is essential that the USAPA Ambassador has input to the leadership of the organization so that the ambassador’s efforts can be integrated with the direction and efforts of SLOPB. To that end, if the USAPA Ambassador does not hold an elected position on the Board of Directors, they should be considered a full non-voting member of the Board of Directors.

As “soon to be past President” of the informal SLOPB Club, I agree with the NEW By-Laws and the direction the Club is going. I encourage the Ambassador, Jean Hyduchak, to run for a position on the Board of Directors for the SLOPB CLUB.

I have enjoyed and learned a great deal from this experience and I want to thank everyone for allowing me this opportunity to grow personally and participate in this wonderful sport! I thank all those who supported my efforts and encourage our paid members to run for an office on the Board of Directors. It is a lot of work, but worth every minute!

All the Best to ALL our Picklers not only in SLO but the entire Central Coast and to our new and younger Picklers which are sure to come. (Watch for the three-fold brochure to come out.)

I want this Club to grow, have PERMANENT courts and be the Mecca for the Central Coast. Welcome guests, invite more to join and have FUN! IF this is ambitious and too fast – let it be. It’s been my passion for two years and I would not change a thing.

Love and Happy Pickling to ALL,
    Bobbi Binder, President
